The Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector specializes in the following:
Supervising the preparation of executive plans, policies, and programs that ensure the fulfillment of the university’s role in community service and environmental development, and ensuring their effective implementation.
Organizing awareness programs and initiatives that aim to serve the community, such as developing slums and the most needy areas in the geographical region, health awareness, vocational training and medical convoys.
Coordinating social partnerships: Building partnerships with institutions, non-governmental organizations, and local government agencies to implement joint projects that serve the environment and society.
Studying college reports and recommendations of scientific conferences regarding community service and environmental development before presenting them to the University Council.
Encouraging research and projects aimed at: improving the environment, serving environmental awareness and education on local environmental issues, encouraging the community to participate in preserving and improving the environment, and supporting social entrepreneurship.
Providing advisory services to the local community in multiple fields, such as local development, health, education, and others.
Organizing continuing education programs and workshops targeting local audiences and professionals in various fields such as technology, health, agriculture, and personal development.
Social and environmental impact assessment: Evaluate the impact of university activities on society and the environment, and analyze the results to improve performance and direct efforts more effectively.

Helwan University is one of the comprehensive Egyptian public universities that includes colleges with clear diversity and distinction in various fields of science and arts. It includes 23 colleges in addition to (2) institutes, and it is affiliated with the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities.
Helwan University was established on July 26, 1975 by Law No. 70 of 1975 to include all colleges as a technological university specializing in the artistic, sports, technological and modern fields. It includes many colleges that are characterized as being among the most prestigious and oldest colleges in Egypt and the Arab world.
Based on the distinguished position of Helwan University, the community service and environmental development sector is considered a mirror of what is happening in the internal and external community. The societal role requires Helwan University to pay attention to the health and social care of the community and develop the slums and the most needy areas that follow the geographical region by organizing integrated medical development convoys and organizing work. Health awareness campaigns to preserve human health and monitor societal problems through the Center for Monitoring and Study of Community Problems and work to hold awareness-raising and educational seminars and courses that work to develop students’ skills and raise awareness for students and all university members, including faculty members and workers.
