About The Award

In line with the directives of the Egyptian state, under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to foster a culture of institutional excellence within higher education institutions, and in alignment with the objectives of Egypt’s Vision 2030, Helwan University is participating in the third edition of the Internal Excellence Awards for Public Universities in 2025.
This participation is under the patronage of Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Ibrahim Kandil, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Walid El-Sarougy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

It is worth noting that the Egypt Government Excellence Award was launched as part of the political leadership’s directives to achieve sustainable development and to establish an effective administrative

    Helwan University took part in the third edition of the Internal Excellence Awards for governmental universities in 2025, in line with the state’s directives to foster a culture of institutional excellence within higher education institutions. It is an internal award designed to support excellence in academic and administrative work and to raise the performance level of university faculties. It also promotes a culture of excellence and quality standards in service delivery.

 

 

The award aims to:

  • Foster competition, creativity, and innovation among Helwan University faculties.

  • Improve the performance of faculty members to achieve satisfaction among students, researchers, and international students.

  • Promote a culture of development and excellence to fulfill the university's mission, and highlight and reward successful models and practices.

  • Raise the level of exceptional performance and enhance service quality across the university and its faculties and academic units.

Is participation in the award mandatory?

Yes, all faculties at the university are required to participate in the award.

 

 What are the benefits of participating in the award?
Faculties and their academic and administrative units gain several benefits through their participation, including:

  • Measuring the faculty’s performance against excellence standards defined by Egypt’s Government Excellence Award.

  • Receiving evaluation reports that highlight strengths and areas for improvement.

  • Learning from the experiences and practices of others and gaining valuable insights.

 

What are the stages of the award?
The award consists of four main stages:

  1. Stage One: The faculty's Excellence Ambassador submits the application electronically and uploads the required documents.

  2. Stage Two: Initial desk evaluation of applications is conducted, and a preliminary list of eligible applications is prepared.

  3. Stage Three: The award team conducts field visits to shortlisted faculties to verify supporting evidence.

  4. Stage Four: Final evaluations are conducted, and results are presented to the judging panel to select the top three faculties.

 

What is the value of the award for the winning faculties?

Winning faculties receive certificates of appreciation and the Excellence Medal for the current cycle. They also receive a financial reward, the amount of which is determined annually by the University Council.


The evaluation is based on ten criteria set by the Egypt Government Excellence Award Committee. Each criterion is structured into two parts:

  • Capabilities (40%): The tools and mechanisms used to achieve goals.

  • Results (60%): Performance achievements and stakeholder satisfaction.
