 admission and registration

For students who have obtained general secondary school, Arab and foreign secondary school (freshman), STEM schools, and Nile Schools of Science and Technology, the student registers his desires on the electronic coordination website.
Through the coordination office, the student is nominated for the college and university according to his grade and the college minimum. The Coordination Office sends the names of the students nominated to the university after completing the work of the Coordination Office. The university sends the names of the students nominated to the university’s colleges through the candidates’ website.
The student goes to the college to which he is nominated to complete the procedures for his enrollment there, provided that he receives the following papers: -

(1) Original, recent birth certificate, 3 copies.
(2) National ID number, 3 copies of it.
(3) The original high school application form and 3 copies thereof.
(1) Form (2) Jund) and the required data is filled out with a (6) Jund card or (7) Jund) for male students only.
The nomination card is printed from the coordination site) 3 copies of it.
6 personal photos with the student’s name written in quadruple.

Transfers

Regarding transfers between university colleges for students who have obtained high school and equivalent high school from previous years, the following is followed:

Documents required for transfer to university colleges, which are uploaded on the central transfer website

First: - Previous years: -
The student must meet the minimum requirements for the college to which he is requested to transfer in the year of obtaining high school and the geographical distribution conditions of Cairo-Giza University.

The following documents will be uploaded to the central transfer website: (1) A copy of the high school diploma - high school equivalent from the college/institute in which the student is enrolled.

(2) An original status statement from the college/institute in which the student is enrolled, explaining the progression of academic years. (3) An original certificate of good conduct for the student from the college/institute in which he is enrolled.

(4) A copy of the student’s national ID card.

Transfer fees:

Transfer fees for students who have an Egyptian general secondary school certificate are (255) pounds.

Transfer fees for students who have an equivalent high school diploma are (405) pounds. Students wishing to transfer are excluded from the geographical distribution requirement in the following cases: -

In cases of administrative transfer: - Submission of proof of the transfer of the student’s guardian (government only) attached to it (lease contract or proof of residency - electricity/water receipt).

In the name of the guardian, in addition to the previous papers, in cases of marriage:

Female students who got married after taking the high school exam must submit a marriage certificate, husband’s card, and a receipt

Electricity/water/natural gas

Second: Students expelled for exhausting their failure times:

A- The university accepts students dismissed from colleges within the university only to one of the affiliation colleges (Commerce and Business Administration - Arts - Law - Social Service that is not corresponding to the college from which the student was dismissed, and the student remains enrolled.

B- The university accepts students expelled from Al-Azhar University from the Faculty of Law (only) at the university, except for those who are expelled from college according to the affiliation system throughout their years of study at the college.

C - Sharia and Law at Al-Azhar University, as it is a college corresponding to the Faculty of Law -: http://app2.helwan.edu.eg/Transfer The following papers are uploaded to the central transfer website

(1) Original secondary school certificate - equivalent secondary school - Al-Azhar secondary school)

(2) The original certificate of dismissal from the college from which the student was expelled, indicating the progression of academic years

An original certificate of good conduct from the college from which he was dismissed.

(4) A copy of the student’s national ID card.

Transfer fees:-

- Transfer fees for students who have an Egyptian or Azhar general secondary school (255) pounds

- Transfer fees for students who have an equivalent high school diploma (405) pounds.

Enrollment in new programs

The student goes to the college where he wants to join the program directly after the main coordination office announces the results of the nominations and before the beginning of the academic year. Acceptance may be made before the beginning of the second semester, and the student must meet the minimum requirements.

The college sector in which you wish to join the program.

The student receives the following papers:

1- A copy of the high school certificate.

2- Nomination card.

3- A copy of the national ID card

Graduate Studies

Vision and goal

The General Administration of Postgraduate Studies and Research seeks to provide distinguished services to postgraduate students in all faculties of Helwan University, as it is the link between the authorities concerned with the postgraduate studies stage in the university’s faculties and the subject accreditation bodies, whether from Mr. Prof./ Vice President of the University or Mr. Prof./ President of the University. Or presenting it to the various councils. The administration seeks to overcome any obstacles related to postgraduate students or employees by providing support and consultations and taking the necessary measures to solve any problem, by providing integrated educational services in light of an effective system of quality education and technological development in an effort to graduate postgraduate students. Researchers, which contribute to the advancement of society, revitalizing the labor market in the country, developing new programs in line with the needs of the labor market, raising the efficiency of the educational process, developing the scientific research skills of students, activating the university’s role in building the personality of the researcher, modernizing the electronic system to facilitate administrative transactions for students, and developing mechanisms to attract expatriates from all over the world. Scientists, facilitating registration procedures and raising the efficiency of research performance by directing students to publish scientific research in periodical journals listed on the Scopus and WOS databases: The postgraduate stage is considered the stage of post-university education to obtain postgraduate degrees (diploma - master's - doctorate). The Graduate Studies Department is responsible for all administrative steps for the stages of postgraduate studies (diploma - master's - doctorate) in all of the university's (23) colleges, starting from accepting students (Egyptians - expatriates) to postgraduate studies in its three stages until granting the degree, passing through all administrative procedures related to that. It also provides post-graduate students with services after awarding the degree, such as (notarizing the certificate or transcript - checking the certificate or transcript - issuing a certificate urgently - sealing a sealed envelope - sealing a letter).

Enrollment and registration

The Enrollment and Registration Department is considered one of the most important sub-departments affiliated with the General Administration of Postgraduate Studies, as it is the department concerned with accepting Egyptian and expatriate students, and it is the department concerned with clarifying any inquiries regarding admission conditions and dates, tuition fees, and specializations available in all programs, whether regular or special.  Enrollment in postgraduate studies (diploma - master's - Ph.D.) for Egyptian students. Applications for admission to postgraduate studies in its three stages (diploma - master's - doctorate) are open from July 15 to September 15 of each year. Applications for admission again as a second semester are opened from January 1 to January 31 of each year for colleges that wish to open admission for the second semester. Applications for admission to postgraduate studies in its three stages are made on the dates specified for admission through electronic application on the website:  http://graduate-programs.helwan.edu.eg

 First: the registration stage

The student does this by entering the student’s data and uploading copies of the documents to the application site

Papers and documents required for the Egyptian student:

1- Qualification certificate + equivalency of the Supreme Council of Universities (in case the qualification was obtained from a non-governmental body).

2- Computerized birth certificate + two copies of it.

3- Conscription certificate for males.

4- A copy of the card.

5- (4) personal photos.

6- A sabbatical certificate for the master’s degree or the employer’s approval to attend lectures.

7- Four-year estimates for the master’s and doctoral stages.

 

Second: The college review stage

This is carried out by the college employee, who reviews the student’s data and examines the documents attached to the student’s application.

If the student fulfills the admission and registration conditions, the competent employee will accept the student and set a date for the student to attend the college’s postgraduate studies headquarters to submit the original papers and pay the due fees.

This is considered an initial acceptance and will not be considered valid until the student comes to the college’s postgraduate studies headquarters to submit the original papers and pay the due fees.

In the event that the student does not meet the conditions for acceptance and registration, the competent employee will reject the student’s application, specifying the reason for the rejection or the possibility of amendment.

Third: Review the university

It is carried out by the employee responsible for the graduate studies department at the university, by reviewing the student’s data and approving it from the Professor, Vice President of the University.

Summer semester

Expatriate and Egyptian postgraduate students can complete their courses during the summer semester without waiting for a new academic year, which is a semester in which studies are opened in the university’s colleges in accordance with some controls approved by the University Council, which are:

Classes begin on the first Saturday of July
The duration of study is 8 weeks, including final exams
The student registers for courses within the limits of the courses offered and announced by the scientific department, no later than the first week.
The number of students applying to study for one course for the summer semester must not be less than (5) students for all levels (and for international students, the number of students must not be less than 3 for one course).
The student must not register for more than two courses, whether in the case of failure, raising the cumulative average, or taking courses that he has not previously taken
The value of the summer semester expenses for each academic course is calculated by dividing the expenses allocated to expatriates for the academic year divided by the number of courses in the stage.

Study system:

Students are registered for the courses they choose, approved by the academic advisor, within the limits of the study schedules announced the week before the start of study, and in accordance with the rules and procedures regulating the course registration process, which are decided by the College Council.

The study system for postgraduate studies is the credit hour system (the credit hour is an academic unit registered for the student in the event of success in the course he is studying, and it is an average of one study hour per week in the case of practical or applied lectures).

- The relevant scientific department determines the number of credit hours for each course.

- Each of the university’s college regulations regulates the number of credit hours required to be passed as basic requirements to obtain each academic degree (diploma, master’s, doctorate).

- Academic guidance: At the beginning of each semester, each scientific department appoints an academic advisor for each specialty from among the faculty members within the department. The academic advisor undertakes the tasks of academic guidance for diploma students during the entire study period and for master’s and doctoral students before registering the thesis, and the thesis supervisor undertakes the tasks of Academic advisor for students registered for master’s or doctoral theses

Registration of academic theses (Master’s - Doctorate)

The student is allowed to register the thesis after fulfilling the registration period specified by the college’s internal regulations.

After passing the number of approved hours required to register the dissertation in accordance with the regulations as well, provided that he passes the foreign language course at the required level in accordance with the rules approved by the University Council or the internal regulations of the college.

After completing the registration papers, it is presented to the relevant councils.
