The University of Helwan provides a community service in partnership with stakeholders to prepare a self-development and community of illiterate citizens.


Project message
Helwan University seeks, through its human cadres, to contribute to community service by supporting sustainability in the surrounding community to liberate citizens from illiteracy in partnership with the General Authority for Adult Education and relevant community institutions.

1.Coordinate the holding of five immediate literacy examinations to determine the level of citizens wishing to obtain a literacy certificate, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Adult Education.
2.Preparation of an information guide (print and electronic) on the objectives, philosophy and importance of the project and the steps taken to enrol students in the national literacy project, in cooperation with the General Authority for Adult Education, and its distribution to the colleges participating in the project.
3.Adopt the training content to include (philosophical and psychological origins of adult education, adult literacy methods and strategies, adult accounting methods and strategies) training and qualification of students at university colleges.
4.Design and launch a YouTube channel and a Facebook page for the national project to erase 5.Illiteracy at Helwan University to raise student training videos to provide a non-synchronous training path for students.
6.Implementation of 48 training courses and workshops to qualify students from university colleges for the National Literacy Project (education, literature, social service, science and home economics).
7.Provision of training alternatives for university college students to qualify for the National Literacy Project, through several tracks: (a direct-attendance training track in the training halls of the participating colleges, a simultaneous training track through the Zoom platform, and a non-synchronized training track through educational videos via the project channel.
1.Publication of the achievements of the Helwan University in the National Literacy Project in the Education for All magazine of the Public Authority for Adult Education.
2.The formation of a youth family against illiteracy at the Social Work College is one of the important mechanisms for educating students to join the National Literacy Project.
3.Preparation of a brochure entitled " Combating illiteracy and the revival of the homeland " for the community service and environmental development sector at the University of Helwan, under the slogan " No illiteracy in the new Republic " , to be published on the website of the participating colleges in order to sensitize students and motivate them to join the project.
4.Publication of a publication on the social service sector of the University of Helwan with incentives for students of the University of Helwan participating in the national literacy project.
5.Conduct of an awareness-raising seminar in cooperation between the community service and environmental development sector of the University and the Faculty of Medicine on the theme: " Together to eradicate illiteracy " , in order to raise awareness among citizens of the city of Badr in order to attend literacy classes.
6.The University of Helwan co-chaired two of the events of the International Meeting of the Authority for Adult Education and the Arab House for Adult Education and Development in the framework of the Marrakech work, which was held in the Grand Conference Room of the General Council of the Authority in Cairo governorate.
1.The University of Helwan participated in the regular executive meeting of the National Literacy Project held in the governorate of Giza, chaired by the Deputy Governor of Giza, in the Executive Council Chamber of the governorate ' s office.
2.Participation of the Helwan University in the activities of the composition of the population curriculum in Arabic language and arithmetic (learning for quality of life) in cooperation with the General Authority for Adult Education.
3.Implementation of three seminars to raise awareness of the literacy and sustainable development dimensions of the Hilwan University faculties (trade, tourism and hotels, social service); cooperation between the community service sector and the Sustainable Development Unit of the Ministry of the Environment.
4.The University of Hilwan, represented at the Faculty of Applied Arts, and the Faculty of Art Education, participated in the design of the Lujo logo for the national initiative on promoting lifelong learning and reading at the level of the Republic, in cooperation with the General Authority for Adult Education.
5.The University of Helwan participated in the proceedings of the second Arab regional symposium on capacity-building in adult education and learning entitled " Concepts of adult education/learning " .Frameworks between theory and practice under the National Reading Initiative and lifelong learning.
6.The total number of citizens benefiting from the National Literacy Project at the University of Helwan who have been freed from illiteracy by students at the University of Helwan; according to reports from the General Authority for Adult Education, recorded in the General Authority for Adult Education database for 14 consecutive examination sessions, from October 2020 to January 2024; and 18290 citizens and citizens in several governorates throughout the Republic (Cairo, Giza, Qalibiyah, Manufiya, Fayum, Beni Swif, Minya, Sohag, Lake, Eastern, Western, Daqhaliyah, North Sinai, South Sinai, Red Sea, Shorter, Alexandria).
