Capital University (formerly Helwan) Achieves a Qualitative Leap in the 2025 UI GreenMetric Global Ranking

Capital University (formerly Helwan) announced a significant achievement in the 2025 UI GreenMetric ranking, securing 1005th place globally, advancing 126 positions compared to last year, in addition to moving up 5 positions locally. This reflects the university’s clear progress in sustainability performance and green environmental practices.
Prof. Dr. Qandil, President of the University, congratulated the university community on this advancement, emphasizing that the university continues to implement its vision of building a sustainable campus that supports the Egyptian state’s direction toward green transformation and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Prof. Dr. Emad Abu El-Dahab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, affirmed that this achievement highlights the university’s efforts in supporting education and research related to environmental issues, and reflects its commitment to improving its international standing across global rankings.
Prof. Dr. Khaled Sayed, Director of the International Ranking Unit, praised the achieved success, explaining that the progress in this year’s ranking resulted from systematic work and a comprehensive submission prepared by the unit in accordance with the six criteria of the ranking, in addition to effective collaboration with various university sectors. The university’s senior leadership also extended sincere thanks to the International Ranking Team for their continuous efforts in data documentation, indicator improvement, and implementation of the action plan aimed at enhancing the university’s global position in the coming years.
The UI GreenMetric Ranking is considered one of the most prominent international rankings measuring universities’ commitment to sustainability through six main criteria: Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education and Research. It includes participation from educational institutions in more than 100 countries worldwide.
