The Faculty of Art Education at Helwan University is one of the most prestigious institutions specializing in training art education teachers at both local and regional levels. It combines a rich history with continuous academic development. The faculty’s beginnings date back to 1932, when a drawing department was established at the Women's Teachers Institute, followed by a similar department at the Men’s Teachers Institute in 1935. In 1966/1967, the two institutes merged under the name *"Higher Institute of Art Education,"* later becoming the *"Faculty of Art Education"* when Helwan University was established. The duration of study was extended to five years to obtain a bachelor's degree in art education.
The faculty plays an active role in preparing art education teachers for general education, as well as training specialists in artistic activities at cultural institutions such as cultural palaces, museums, and exhibitions.
