The Pathologist, a British American magazine, has selected Dr. Fatma Alzahraa Elkhamisy, Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Helwan University (seconded to King Salman International University), among its prestigious “The Power List 2025,” which is another international achievement added to Helwan University’s record. This list features 50 of the most inspiring figures and leading voices in the field of pathology worldwide.

This year, Dr. Elkhamisy was recognized in the "Leading Voices" category, in appreciation of her innovative contributions to the advancement of undergraduate pathology education. This marks her third appearance on the Power List, following her selection in 2022 and 2024, solidifying her influential international presence in medical education.

Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating that Dr. Elkhamisy’s inclusion in The Power List 2025 is a well-deserved recognition of her distinguished efforts and creativity in medical education. He affirmed that Helwan University is home to elite academic talents capable of competing globally and proudly representing Egypt on the international stage. “At the university, we place great importance on supporting innovation and excellence, so that our faculty members continue to serve as proud ambassadors of the nation,” he added.

Dr. Rasha Refai, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Helwan University, also congratulated Dr. Elkhamisy on this international recognition, emphasizing that this selection is an achievement for the entire faculty. “Dr. Fatma’s global standing reflects her tremendous dedication to innovating pathology teaching methods and enriching the learning experience of our medical students. We are proud of her as a role model—an inspiring university professor who balances academic excellence with a deep commitment to education. This accomplishment adds to our faculty’s growing reputation both locally and internationally and highlights the leadership of successful Egyptian women on the world stage,” Dr. Rasha added.

Dr. Elkhamisy expressed her pride in representing Helwan University on this list. She also noted that she is one of only two individuals representing institutions from the Arab world in Africa and the Middle East. This recognition extends her international academic journey, as she is a Fellow of International FAIMER Institute for Medical Education and Leadership, an Associate Fellow of the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), and an Ambassador of the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE).

According to The Pathologist, individuals selected for The Power List are chosen by a specialized panel of leading experts in the field, based on their ability to propose visionary ideas and implement bold initiatives in pathology. The magazine noted that these influencers not only adapt to challenges, but lead transformative change with grounded principles that inspire innovation, action, and global impact, contributing significantly to the advancement of medicine.

The inclusion of Dr. Elkhamisy in this prestigious list is a testament to the excellence and leadership of Egyptian academic talent and highlights Helwan University’s commitment to empowering its faculty to make meaningful international contributions in education and research.
