Helwan University Hosts Final Rounds of HULT PRIZE 2025 with Participation from 43 Egyptian Universities

In a remarkable event showcasing Helwan University's leadership in supporting student innovation and community-based entrepreneurship, the Scientific and Technological Activity Administration at the university hosted the final rounds of the HULT PRIZE 2025 competition at the university’s Arts and Culture Complex. The event was held under the theme: "Egypt Summit for Community Investment Projects."
The competition featured 63 teams representing 43 Egyptian universities, under the supervision and sponsorship of the Innovators and Geniuses Support Fund affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in collaboration with the International Hult Prize Foundation. The competition aims to support entrepreneurial projects with a social impact and encourage students to present sustainable solutions to developmental challenges.
The event was held under the patronage and in the presence of:
Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University,
Dr. Hani Ayad, Executive Director of the Innovators and Geniuses Support Fund,
Ms. Yana Dabbaghieh, Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the HULT PRIZE,
With supervision from Prof. Dr. Hossam Refai, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.
Helwan University achieved notable success by winning both the second and third places in the finals:
"Energetic" team from the Faculty of Engineering in Matariya secured second place,
"Online wiz u" team from the Faculty of Medicine achieved third place.
In his speech during the event, Dr. El-Sayed Kandil emphasized that student activities and innovation are top priorities for Helwan University. He stressed that hosting such major events reflects the university's national and educational commitment to nurturing future leaders. He also highlighted the university’s fully equipped infrastructure capable of hosting national and international competitions and expressed pride in being a platform for launching promising youth ideas.
Dr. Kandil expressed deep pride in the students’ achievements, stating that this honorable accomplishment reflects the true creativity and leadership potential of Helwan students in the field of social innovation and sustainable-impact projects. He affirmed that the students’ participation and success in such a prestigious competition is clear evidence of their competence and readiness to represent their university and country on global platforms.
He said: “We believe in your abilities, we stand behind you with all of our support, and we look forward to seeing you raise the name of the university high on international podiums.”
He also emphasized that hosting this international event aligns with the university’s strategic vision to foster a culture of entrepreneurship and empower students within a stimulating academic environment for creativity, innovation, and free thinking.
