Helwan University Participates for the First Time in the 2025 Government Excellence Awards for Universities

Helwan University took part in the third edition of the Internal Excellence Awards for Public Universities for the year 2025. This participation aligns with the state’s directives to instill a culture of institutional excellence within higher education institutions, and comes under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation; and Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities.
The university's participation is also supported by Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, and Dr. Walid El-Sorougy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, within the framework of the strategic partnership between the Supreme Council of Universities and Egypt's Government Excellence Award. This initiative aims to enhance institutional performance and promote quality standards within universities.
The Egypt Government Excellence Award launched the activities of the third edition of the Internal Excellence Awards for Public Universities in 2025 through a training workshop titled "Managing Internal Award Systems", held at the headquarters of the Supreme Council of Universities. The event saw the participation of 27 public universities from across the country, including 14 universities participating for the first time—among them, Helwan University. The workshop addressed mechanisms for activating internal excellence systems and applying their standards across university faculties and departments, in line with institutional modernization requirements and the advancement of educational and administrative services.
The workshop was attended by Ambassador Hisham Badr, General Supervisor of Egypt’s Government Excellence Award, who emphasized in his speech that institutional excellence is an ongoing journey requiring constant commitment to improvement and development. He added that a culture of excellence can only be achieved when institutions place citizens at the core of their mission. Dr. Mona Hagrass, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities, also highlighted the significant role played by the Egypt Government Excellence Award in fostering a culture of excellence within Egyptian universities and encouraging positive competition among faculties. She noted that universities have become key partners in implementing the state's institutional development plans. Ms. Soha Saeed, Executive Director of the Award, stressed the importance of involving specialized teams from each university to ensure effective and sustainable application of excellence standards.
Helwan University's delegation to the training workshop included representatives from various quality and development-related departments, demonstrating the university’s serious commitment to adopting institutional excellence as a comprehensive working approach. The delegation consisted of:
Dr. Nabil Abdel Salam, Director of the University’s Quality Assurance Center
Dr. Amani El-Sayed, Head of the Internal Excellence Management Team
Dr. Ahmed El-Masry, Evaluation Officer
Dr. Zeinab Salah El-Din, Operations and Logistics Support Officer
Engineer Rafik El-Din Hassan, Technological and Technical Support Officer
Ms. Mai Farid, Communications and Public Relations Officer for the Award
