In a new achievement that reflects its prominent status on the Arab academic stage, Helwan University has been selected to represent Egyptian universities on the Executive Council of the Association of Arab Universities for a two-year term. This announcement was made during the 57th General Conference of the Association, hosted by the International University for Science and Technology in Kuwait on April 23–24, 2025, under the theme: "Arab Higher Education in the Era of Digital Transformation and Regional Integration."
This step crowns the active and influential participation of Helwan University in the conference. Professor Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of the University, took part as a member of a high-level Egyptian academic delegation led by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The event was attended by a distinguished group of university presidents from Egypt and the Arab world, along with experts in higher education across the Arab region, reaffirming the leadership and historical role of Egyptian higher education.
Dr. El-Sayed Kandil emphasized that Helwan University's selection reflects the Arab academic community’s confidence in the university’s ability to actively contribute to shaping higher education policies on a regional level. He noted that the university is steadily progressing toward becoming a smart university with an international vision, committed to its pioneering role in supporting education, innovation, and knowledge across the Arab world.
Dr. Kandil extended his sincere thanks to the members of the Association for their confidence, and expressed gratitude to Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities.
The conference sessions were rich and diverse, focusing on ways to advance Arab higher education through digital transformation tools. It highlighted models of institutional integration among universities, most notably the Egyptian Knowledge Bank as an inspiring model for knowledge innovation and research support. In-depth discussions also addressed mechanisms to enhance collaboration among Arab universities and exchange expertise in fields such as artificial intelligence, educational technology, and joint regional training.
Helwan University’s participation in this prominent regional event reflects its deep belief in the importance of building lasting academic bridges between Arab higher education institutions. It also affirms the university’s commitment to presenting a modern educational model that keeps pace with global changes, placing innovation and scientific leadership at the forefront of its priorities, thereby reinforcing its role as an active platform in its regional environment and contributing to a more cohesive and distinguished future for Arab education.
