Outstanding Projects by Students of the Theatrical Set Design Course at the Department of Theatre, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University

As part of Helwan University’s commitment to student development, third-year students specializing in Set and Costume Design within the Department of Theatre at the Faculty of Arts have produced outstanding projects for the Theatrical Set Design course. These projects were carried out under the patronage of Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, Dr. Ahmed Rawi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and under the supervision of Dr. Abeer Mansour, Head of the Department, and Dr. Walid El-Rafei.

The students’ work included set designs for scenes from the plays Macbeth by William Shakespeare and Al-Wazir Al-Ashiq (The Passionate Minister) by Farouk Goweda, as well as designs for scenes and characters from the opera Orpheus and Eurydice.

Training students in this field plays a pivotal role in enriching the educational process, as it integrates both artistic and technical aspects in preparing exceptional talents capable of innovating in the fields of theatrical set and costume design. The specialization acts as an incubator for young talents, fostering aesthetic sensibility and expressive skills, which in turn enhance the quality of theatrical performances and support the Egyptian theatre industry with renewed creativity and a fresh spirit.
